Set in a small Texas town in the summer of 1952, The Night Hank Williams Died is a poignant and darkly humorous portrait of broken dreams and small-town struggles.
Former high school football star Thurmond Stottle spends his days working at a gas station and his nights at a local bar, clinging to the hope of becoming a country music star like his idol, Hank Williams. When his former love, Nellie, returns to town, old feelings resurface and ignite a series of choices that spiral out of control.
With colorful characters, biting wit, and a deep undercurrent of longing, Larry L. King’s play explores the cost of holding onto the past—and the heartbreak that can come with chasing an unattainable future.
